Blue Moon Blog Hop – Day 1!
Hello and WELCOME to the Blue Moon Blog Hop!! We have an exciting week planned for you with our partners, featuring gorgeous fabrics, threads, patterns, projects, and products (phew)!
If you’re here, you’re at the beginning of the hop! You’ll also find Day 1 goodies at Canton Village Quilt Works. You can find the full schedule for the hop at the end of this post.
Let’s jump in with the gotta-have-them fabrics from the Blue Moon collection! This gorgeous grouping of fabrics was designed by Kathy Engle for Jackie Kunkel of Canton Village Quilt Works. It’s a rich collection of cool blues and purples with earthy elements like trees, bark, pinecones and pine sprigs. Fanciful snowflakes and dots add a touch of sparkle! You can find these fabrics in your local quilt shop right now! Don’t see it on the shelf? Ask a sales associate on the floor!
You can find these fabrics in some of Jackie’s newest patterns: Twisted, Winter Solstice, Pansy Garden, Lattice, and Snowflakes!
As a Judy Niemeyer Certified Instructor, Jackie also colored and pieced the Quiltworx patterns Caribbean Starfish (96″ x 96″) and the Prickly Pinecone Tree Skirt (60″ Diameter)! 😍
And what collection would be complete without some Funky Friends and its very own tuffet?! Jackie worked with the lovely ladies at Tuffet Source to create this one-of-a-kind tuffet that uses a block from one of Jackie’s patterns. The sweet Melody Memory Bear and Ozzie Octopus add some snuggly warmth to this cool collection. These two Funky Friends were created by Connie Kauffman, Island Batik Ambassador.
Our friends at Aurifil worked with Jackie to curate a perfectly coordinated 50 wt thread collection. Isn’t it irresistible?!
But wait, there is even more to celebrate with this collection! We know a lot of our quilters love to read. We joined forces with author Marie Bostwick and Deb Tucker’s Studio 180 Design to offer our quilt shops and their customers (that’s YOU!) a new type of program that keeps you quilting, reading and enjoying time with your local quilty community. What could be better?!
For each of Marie’s new books, Deb designs a companion pattern that picks up on a character or theme from the book. For The Promise Girls, Deb designed and created the Stormy Stars Quilt Pattern (27″ x 27″). She also created an expanded version of this design, using the Blue Moon collection and her Square Squared and Diamond Rects tools. Both designed are inspired by the books character, Avery Promise, a mermaid at heart.
Ask your local quilt shop if they are participating in The Promise Girls program and how you can sign up!
