Island Batik + Aurifil Week ~ Zen

Today is day four of Island Batik Week with Aurifil! If you’re just joining us, be sure to check out our other posts this week featuring Fresh Pick’ins, Batiks Go Retro, and Captain’s Anchor.

We’re featuring the Zen batik collection today and highlighting Purrfect Spots Designs, one of the designers who released a new pattern using these fabrics at Spring Market!

The Zen collection by Kathy Engle features organic shapes in calming shades of blue. Pops of forest green and lime give the serene grouping an energetic twist! Nan made these fabrics sway to life in her quilt, Sea of Tranquility (53″ x 71″).

And of course, Nan used none other than Aurifil threads to make this quilt! She recommends the following colors to coordinate with the Zen collection: 5006, 2720, 2784, 1231, 2810 and 2730. Perfection!

Hop over to the Aurifil blog to read an interview with Nan and for the details on how you can win a Zen Stack (10″ Squares) and the hand-picked threads to match! And don’t miss Nan’s post on the Purrfect Spots Designs blog with a behind the scenes look at the creation of Sea of Tranquility!

What I love most about the Island Batiks are the colours. No matter which palettes, they just seem to be so vivid, clear and bright!
