ndependent fabric retailers are the people that have helped grow
the business of Island Batiks. Adam and Moira are strongly
loyal to these people and will not sell to chain stores.
First orders are payable by either credit
card or COD. Once credit is established, terms of 30 or 60 days
are extended. Invoices are paid direct to Island Batik which
they prefer over complicating matters with a Factor. Orders may
be placed at one of the trade shows, via the website at
www.Islandbatik.com, or
a sales rep will call to set up an appointment. Minimum order is
3 bolts of fabric or $150.00.
Close out and discontinued cotton promotions
can be viewed on line. Buyers need to call for the current
reduced price quotes. Usually it is about $3.85 per yard with a
minimum order of three bolts. There is a rayon promotion each
spring in which all rayon sells at $4.60 a yard instead of $5.75
with a minimum order of 10 bolts. |

During the last five years many new quilt
shops have opened and more fabric vendors are exhibiting at the
trade shows. Each of these is searching for their market
niche. For Island Batik this translates into an endless
renewal of designs and quick response to customer requests.
Looking ahead, Adam sees the Batik fabric industry unifying to
meet the customers’ demand for high quality Batik on a good base
cloth. The versatility in color and depth that batik offers will
always make it an indispensable item in the quilter’s palette.
Indonesia produces exceptionally high quality batik and this is
the standard that quilters will look for. |
